UN WOMEN VISIT TO LIWOMAC - Estella Nelson LIWOMAC President Speech

The President of the Liberia Women Media Action Committee (LIWOMAC) has called on the media to lay special emphasis on telling the story of women as the country enters another critical period of existence.

Estella Nelson says security for women in the midst of UNMIL draw down is a major issue that should be highlighted and discussed in the country.

Madam Nelson, however, stressed the need for women to work together to ensure peace is maintained in the absence of UNMIL.

Among other things, she said it was important for women to localize the sustainable development goal to translate it into concrete action for women.

But the LIWOMAC president indicated that these efforts can be actualized through the support of the United Nations Women and other international groups.

Madam Nelson spoke on Saturday at a brief ceremony marking the visit of the head of the UN Women to LWDR.
